Should You Rent A Studio Apartment?

Posted on

Are you looking for a new apartment, and you're considering a studio apartment for the first time? If so, you'll want to know some of the advantages and disadvantages of this unique type of apartment so you can determine if it is right for you.

Studio Apartments Are Affordable

You'll find that studio apartments are very affordable because they are a much smaller space than other types of apartments. It's essentially one big room without any division between the bedroom, kitchen, and living area, so a lot of square footage that would normally be walled off is shared between spaces. As you can imagine, renting a smaller apartment in terms of square footage is going to be more affordable than larger spaces.

Studio Apartments Are Great For Single People

If you are a single person living in a studio apartment, you'll find that a studio apartment can be great for you. They are quite cozy, and you quickly realize that you do not need the separation between rooms when you're living on your own. This type of space may not be ideal for two people since you will always be around each other.

Studio Apartments Are Easy To Clean

One advantage of having one big space is that it will be very easy to clean a studio apartment. You'll find that it takes a fraction of the time that it would take to clean other types of apartments, just because there are no walls and a smaller square footage. For example, you can clean all the floors all at once, rather than do it room by room.

Studio Apartments Are Difficult To Host People

A downside of a studio apartment is that it is difficult to host other people. This includes people that are visiting from out of town, where they simply need a place to sleep and you are all sharing the same room. It can also be difficult to have gatherings where people are essentially occupying your bedroom throughout the night.

Studio Apartments May Have Smaller Appliances

You may discover that studio apartments may have smaller appliances when compared to bigger spaces. This is mostly because of trying to fit everything into a smaller space, but it can be frustrating to have a smaller oven, refrigerator, and dishwasher. However, there are studio apartments with full-sized appliances out there, so you just need to look around if this is a concern to you.
